Allison Sloan
Violin Teacher

Allison is a highly qualified and experienced teacher, and is a Member of the B.C Registered Music Teachers' Association. She incorporates the best of the world–renowned Suzuki Philosophy ("Nurtured by Love") with the more "traditional" approaches to tailor a program to meet the needs of each individual student. Some students want a casual experience, whereas others who are more "serious" will be prepared for R.C.M. Exams, through to A.R.C.T.

In all cases, Allison´s goal is to ensure that her students are well set up technically, so that they are physically free to express the music. Study of the Alexander Technique has been an invaluable resource toward this end.

The majority of students will not become musicians, but playing the violin enriches their lives and makes for well–rounded individuals. Those who do wish to pursue music as a career will be ready to move on to advanced study without the need for remedial work. Allison has former students playing professionally in Canada, the U.S., and Europe.
